A Guatemalan singer-songwriter by the name of Ricardo Arjona, Edgar Ricardo Arjona Morales, was born on January 19, 1964. With over 80 million recordings sold, Arjona is one of the most popular and successful Latin American performers of all time.

At the age of 21, Arjona signed with the now-defunct Guatemalan record company Discos de Centroamérica, S.A., and PolyGram distributed his debut album, Déjame Decir Que Te Amo, which was published in 1985.
