Oleksandr Semenovych Zelenskyy (also known as Aleksandr Semyonovich Zelensky) is a Ukrainian mining scientist and mathematician who specializes in automating geology and surveying support and he is a professor and doctor of technical sciences.

Since 1995, Zelenskyy has been Dean of Cybernetics and Computer Hardware at Kryvyi Rih State University. He is the father of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He is of Jewish descent. His father, Semyon (Simon) Ivanovich Zelensky, served in the 57th Guards Motor Rifle Division of the Red Army during World War II.

Semyon’s father and his three brothers were killed in the Holocaust. He is married to Rymma Zelenska born September 16, 1950. Oleksandr Zelenskyy received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Kryvyi Rih State University in 1972.

In 1983, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Moscow State Mining University entitled “Automatic calculation of iron ore reserves in ICS quarries”. Since 1995, Zelenskyy has been Dean of the Department of Cybernetics and Computers Hardware at Kryvyi Rih State University.

Alexander Zelensky has always practiced scientific research. His logical continuation and development was the creation of an automated mining management system at the Mongolian-Russian joint venture ERDENET, which is developing one of the world’s largest copper-molybdenum deposits. He has been working in this system for over 20 years.
