The Personal Life of Eddie Vedder: Her Marriages and Children
Eddie Vedder (born Edward Louis Severson III on December 23, 1964) is an American singer, musician, and composer who is the lead vocalist and one of Pearl Jam’s three guitarists. He previously performed as a guest vocalist with Temple of the Dog, a tribute band to the late singer Andrew Wood.
Vedder, famed for his booming baritone voice, was voted eighth on Rolling Stone’s list of “Best Lead Singers of All Time,” based on a reader survey.
As a soundtrack for the film Into the Wild (2007), Vedder released his debut solo album in 2007.
Who is Eddie Vedder married to?
Eddie Vedder attended San Dieguito High School, which is now known as San Dieguito Academy, and donated money from a 2006 Pearl Jam concert in San Diego to the school’s construction of a theatre named after his former drama teacher, Clayton E. Liggett. Vedder’s high school mentor was Liggett. When Vedder learned of Liggett’s death in 1995, he penned “Long Road” (from Merkin Ball).
In the early 1990s, Vedder shared a room with Alice in Chains guitarist and frontman Jerry Cantrell in the basement of Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis’ house in Seattle.
Vedder was also acquainted with Alice in Chains’ lead vocalist Layne Staley and penned the song “4/20/02” (from Lost Dogs) on the night he learned of Staley’s death, on April 20, 2002 (while Staley died almost two weeks earlier on April 5, his body was discovered on April 19). During a Pearl Jam event in Chicago on August 22, 2016, which would have been Staley’s 49th birthday, Vedder said, “It’s the birthday of a guy called Layne Staley tonight, and we’re thinking of him tonight too.” “I’m 49 years old,” Vedder said before dedicating “Man of the Hour” to his late companion.
Vedder married Hovercraft bassist Beth Liebling in 1994, whom he had been dating since he was a teenager, around 1984. Vedder was the drummer for Hovercraft during Mike Watt’s 1995 U.S. tour. In September 2000, the couple split. Vedder revealed in an interview published in the June 29, 2006 issue of Rolling Stone magazine that his divorce from Liebling had crushed him. The divorce occurred at the same time as Pearl Jam’s biggest tragedy, the killing of nine fans during the band’s show at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark on June 30, 2000.
In an interview with Chris Cornell’s daughter Lily in 2020, Vedder revealed that their show began on a high because they had just learned of her birth, until around 40 minutes into their performance when tragedy struck. Pete Townshend, according to Vedder, assisted him in the early phases of dealing with the catastrophe.
How many children does Eddie Vedder own?
Vedder has two children from two marriages. In 2000, he divorced his first wife, Beth Liebling. In 2010, Vedder married his second wife, Jill McCormick. Harper Vedder and Olivia Vedder are their two daughters.
