Her fondness for the American rock band Mötley Crüe, whose bassist called his daughter Storm, inspired her to choose Stormy Daniels as her stage name.

From 2003 until 2005, Daniels was married to Pat Myne, using his legal last name of Clifford. She was also married to Michael Mosny (a.k.a. Mike Moz) in 2007 and divorced in 2009.
She then got married Glendon Crain in 2010 and had a daughter with him. Crain filed for divorce in July 2018. Daniels is now a bisexual which she revealed in 2019.
