South Korean actor, Song Joong-ki was born on September 19th, 1985 in Secheon-dong, Daejeon in South Korea.
He gained notoriety as a part of the original cast of the variety show Running Man (2010–2011) and the historical coming-of-age drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010).
Since then, he has played a diverse spectrum of roles in the television series The Innocent Man (2012), Descendants of the Sun (2016), Arthdal Chronicles (2019), and Vincenzo (2021), as well as the hit films A Werewolf Boy (2012), The Battleship Island (2017) and Space Sweepers (2021).

In 2012 and 2017, Song was named Gallup Korea’s Television Actor of the Year. He debuted on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list in 2013, finishing seventh. He then moved up to second place in 2017, and finally to seventh place in 2018.

Song Joong-ki was born on September 19th, 1985 in Secheon-dong, Daejeon in South Korea. He was born to Song Joong-gak. Song is the second child of three siblings and was raised in the rural outskirts of Daejeon.
His experience in short-track speed skating helped him in his role as a national team skater in the television series Triple. He also represented his hometown of Daejeon at the national level.
He had to stop playing the sport during his freshman year of high school due to an injury. He did well in school all through high school and received admission to Sungkyunkwan University with a score of 380 out of 400 on his national college entrance exam.
He was discovered by an agency on the subway while in Seoul preparing for the entrance exam, but he delayed entering the entertainment business because he was still undecided about his career plan and because his father had initially opposed him becoming an actor.
After opting to go into the entertainment business full-time during his third year of college, he continued to take classes part-time, eventually earning a Business Administration degree with a minor in broadcasting in 2012.
Song made his on-screen debut on KBS’s Quiz Korea as a contestant, filling up for a senior who was ill. Song ultimately came in second. He received a lot of attention as a result, and the college magazine College used him as its cover model.

Song made his acting debut in the 2008 period film A Frozen Flower. The following year, he appeared in the couple-swapping segment “Believe in the Moment” of the omnibus Five Senses of Eros and continued to take on small but notable roles in Triple and Will It Snow for Christmas?
From 2009 to 2010, Song also started hosting the KBS Friday music show Music Bank on a regular basis. Then he acted in the 2010 animal film Hearty Paws 2 and the 2010 medical drama OB & GY.
Song’s breakout portrayal as an affluent, lax playboy from the Joseon Dynasty of the 18th century was in the fusion historical drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Song portrayed a jobless drifter in the romantic comedy Penny Pinchers in 2011.

In the fantasy romance movie A Werewolf Boy, which had its world premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, he portrayed the title role. Song learned how to mime and emulate the bodily motions of an animal in order to get ready for his role by watching nature documentaries and seeing stray dogs on the streets.
He also constantly watched Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, the 2010 vampire film Let Me In, and the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands by Tim Burton. In Descendants of the Sun, where he co-starred with actress Song Hye-kyo and played a military lieutenant, Song made his return to television.
The Korea Tourism Organization appointed Song as the Honorary Ambassador for Korean Tourism in order to aggressively promote Korean travel abroad. The historical fantasy drama Arthdal Chronicles, which debuted on tvN in 2019, featured Song in his return to small-screen acting. His Descendants of the Sun co-star Kim Ji won and he worked on the drama as a reunion endeavor.
After parting ways with Blossom Entertainment in January 2020, Song joined History D&C, a brand-new talent management and content creation business started by Hwang Ki-yong, a former SidusHQ executive.
Song and Kim Tae-ri participated in Jo Sung-science hee’s fiction movie Space Sweepers in 2021, which had an exclusive Netflix debut on February 5, 2021.
He will star in Kim Seong-criminal je’s thriller Bogota in 2022 alongside Lee Hee-joon and Kwon Hae-hyo. He will also appear in Jeong Dae-series Yoon’s adaptation of the well-known web novel Reborn Rich.
