Ron DeSantis was born in Jacksonville, the son of Karen and Ronald Daniel DeSantis.
His eight great-grandparents were all born in Italy and of Italian descent, with communes in the provinces of L’Aquila, Benevento, Avellino, and Campobasso as their home.
In 1917, his great-great-grandmother, Luigia Colucci, and her husband immigrated to America. When he was six years old, his family moved to Dunedin, Florida, and then to Orlando, Florida. Christina Marie DeSantis, his sister, died in 2015. She was born in Orlando on May 5, 1985.
He was a Republican in Florida’s 6th congressional district from 2013 to 2018.
DeSantis was first elected to Congress in 2012, defeating Democrat Heather Beaven. He founded the Freedom Caucus and supported President Donald Trump during his presidency.
DeSantis has repeatedly criticized Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.
In 2015, DeSantis was a founding member of the Freedom Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of congressional conservatives and libertarians.
DeSantis added a rider to the proposed fiscal 2018 spending bill package in August 2017 that would end funding for the Mueller investigation “or the investigation in that order of matters occurring prior to June 2015.” (the month Trump declared his candidacy for president).
The amendment was intended to counter a bipartisan bill drafted by two Democratic and two Republican United States senators that would have limited the president’s ability to fire the special counsel.
Ron and his lovely wife have three happy children: Madison, Mason, and Mamie. The DeSantis family is the first young family to occupy the governor’s mansion in more than 50 years.
Madison is their first child. Madison, who was born in 2018, enjoys swimming, trampoline jumping, and eating ice cream. She is very good at both golf and t-ball.

His father is Ronald DeSantis and from the name, it could be seen that he named his son after himself. Ronald and Karen had another child aside from Ron. The child was a daughter named Christina Marie DeSantis, however, she died in 2015.
