Marco Reus is a professional footballer from Germany who plays as an attacking midfielder or forward for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and plays for the Germany national team. He is the skipper for Borussia Dortmund.
Reus’ parents named him after the Netherlands’ football legend, Marco van Basten. According to Reus, his parents were going to name him ‘Dennis’ but changed their thoughts when Van Basten scored the famous volley goal against Soviet Union in the final of Euro 1988, they decided to name him Marco.
Reus is well-known for his versatility, agility, speed technical skills, intelligence, and shooting ability; however he is also known for his proneness to injury.

Reus is a product of the Borussia Dortmund youth academy. In 2006, he joined Rot Weiss Ahlen II. He was promoted to the senior team on the following year. On 25 May 2009, Reus signed a four-year contract with Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach. His contract with Gladbach was set to expire in 2015 and reportedly had a buy-out clause of €18 million.
On 4th January 2012, Reus signed with his former club Borussia Dortmund for a €17.1 million transfer fee on a five-year deal. He officially rejoined them on 1st July, 2012.
Reus is having a good stay at Dortmund since he signed for the club. S ince 2012 to 29th January, 2023, he has featured in 369 games for the club and netting 156 goals.
For his International duty, Reus made his first appearances in the Germany Under-21 in a friendly game on 11th August, 2009. He made his first debut for the Germany national team on 7th October, 2011.

Reus made his first World Cup appearance during their opening match against Mexico as a substitute by replacing Sami Khedira on 17th June, 2018, in the 60th minute, but the match ended in a 1–0 loss for Germany.
