It Happened So Fast – Olympian Kim Glass Shares Injuries Inflicted By Homeless Man

Kim Glass, an American volleyball player who took home a silver medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, claims she was attacked by a homeless man in Los Angeles this past weekend and almost lost an eye.

The incident, according to the 37-year-old, occurred on July 9 on Saturday as she was leaving lunch with a companion at a restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles.

Glass claimed in a series of videos she shared on her social media website that as soon as she left the restaurant, she saw a man in the street holding something.

She added: “He just like looked at me with some pretty hateful eyes. And, as I turned to go tell my friend, ‘I think something’s, like, wrong with him and I think he’s going to hit a car,’ before I knew it, a big metal bolt, like pipe, hit me right here.”

“It happened so fast,” she explained.

She claimed that the man threw the item at her from a distance of several feet, and it smacked directly into her eye socket and the bridge of her nose, seriously injuring both.

Her eye was almost completely swelled shut in videos shot a day after the attack, and her face was still covered in blood.

She claimed in the videos that she had many facial fractures and required sutures to treat her wounds.

She continued by expressing her gratitude for all the support she has received from friends and family in the wake of the occurrence.

She said in the video: “Just be safe out there. There’s a lot of mentally ill people on these streets right now and you shouldn’t have to be fearful when you walk but it’s true. And, so, you guys just be safe.”
