Inside Kim Pegula Personal Life: Her Marriage and Children

Kim Pegula is an entrepreneur with an estimated net worth of $8 billion. That is her joint net worth with her long-term husband, Terry Pegula.

Pegula was the president and CEO of the now-defunct Pegula Sports and Entertainment, a holding company that owned and operated multiple sports teams and entertainment properties, most of which were located in Western New York. Its interests included the Buffalo Bills of the NFL and the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL, as well as the mixed-use development LECOM Harborcenter.

Pegula Sports and Entertainment was dissolved in the summer of 2023. The Pegulas continue to own both the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills. Kim Pegula is one of just three NFL team owners born outside the United States, and she is one of only a few female NFL owners.

Who is Kim Pegula married to?

Terry, Kim Pegula‘s husband, has been her husband since 1993. Kelly, Matthew, and Jessica Pegula are their three children, the latter of whom is a professional tennis player. Kim Pegula also has two stepchildren from her husband’s previous marriage, Michael and Laura. East Aurora, New York, and Boca Raton, Florida are home to the family.

Pegula was admitted to a Boca Raton ICU in mid-2022 for unspecified reasons. Her daughter Jessica later stated that her mother was hospitalized owing to a heart attack and subsequent brain injuries. After recovering for nearly a year, Pegula attended a Buffalo Bills training camp session in the summer of 2023.

Meanwhile, Pegula was born in Seoul, South Korea on June 7, 1969. She claims no direct recollection of her original name and no trace of her biological parents, who allegedly abandoned her on the streets of Seoul when she was five years old. Pegula was brought to the United States at the end of 1974 and adopted by Marilyn and Ralph Kerr. She grew up in Fairport, New York, and was a member of her high school band and cheering squad as a teenager. Pegula received her higher education at Houghton College, a private Christian liberal arts college in the namesake New York town.

Pegula met businessman and petroleum engineer Terry while interviewing for a waitressing position at a restaurant in Belfast, New York, in the early 1990s. He eventually offered her a job at East Resources, his oil and gas exploration and production company, and the couple married in 1993.

Pegula worked with East Resources until its sale in 2010. Soon after, the Pegulas purchased the NHL team, the Buffalo Sabres, as well as its two affiliates, the NLL’s Buffalo Bandits and the AHL’s Rochester Americans. They later established the holding firm Pegula Sports and Entertainment, with Kim as president and CEO.

The Pegulas purchased the NFL’s Buffalo Bills in 2014, outbidding the competition with an NFL-record $1.4 billion all-cash deal.

Pegula Sports and Entertainment went on to make a number of other acquisitions throughout the years. In 2017, the corporation acquired the Buffalo Beauts of the National Women’s Hockey League, and in 2018, it acquired the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League.
