Adler formed the band Blotted Science in 2006 with progressive guitarist Ron Jarzombek. Adler relocated to Toronto, Canada in 2013 to work on and record the album Volition with the progressive metal band Protest the Hero. The album earned Adler his first Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy).
He contributed many drum tracks to Testament’s Dark Roots of Earth album in 2014. On August 9, 2014, ABC News radio questioned Adler if he did the drumming for the new Slipknot single “The Negative One” in an interview. “I can’t confirm or deny it,” Adler replied. In 2016, Adler recorded three songs in a California studio with Jim Gillette, Michael Angelo Batio, and Victor Wooten for a Nitro reunion album. He abandoned the Nitro reunion project in October 2017 to focus on a mid-2018 album and tour with Lamb of God.
