Grigor Dimitrov Awards And Honors: Born on May 16, 1991, Grigor Dimitrov, also known as Grigor Dimitrov Dimitrov is a Bulgarian professional tennis player.

He developed a passion for playing tennis at a younger age, has been consistent throughout his career, and has become one of the most sought-after tennis players.

The Bulgarian professional tennis player, Grigor Dimitrov is a recipient of several awards and honors including;

  • Best young tennis player in Bulgaria (2005)
  • Bulgarian Sportsperson of the Year (2014, 2017)
  • Sports Icarus Award (2014, 2017)
  • Balkan Athlete of the Year (2017)

Dimitrov had a successful junior career, reaching the world No. 1 ranking and also winning consecutive major boys’ singles titles at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships and the 2008 US Open.

He’s the first (and only) Bulgarian male tennis player to reach a final in doubles (in 2011), and to reach the fourth round or better at a major in singles.

In October 2013, he became the first Bulgarian man to win an ATP Tour singles title. He also won the Bulgarian Sportsperson of the Year award in 2014 and 2017.

Dimitrov became the first Bulgarian tennis player to qualify for the ATP Finals, winning in 2017, and also won a Masters title the same year (2017).

The above-mentioned feat was the first and second time a tennis player has won the award since its creation in 1958, and the Balkan Athlete of the Year award in 2017

Dimitrov has been ranked as high as world No. 3 in singles by the ATP, which he first achieved on 20 November 2017, making him the highest-ranked Bulgarian player in history.

He achieved the ranking after winning the biggest title of his career at the season-ending ATP Finals. He has won eight ATP Tour singles titles to date.

He has won more prize money than any other Bulgarian, being the only male Bulgarian player to reach US$1m. In October 2021, he became the 25th male tennis player ever to win $20m.

As of the 2023 US Open, Dimitrov is the male player with the longest active streak of consecutive Grand Slam appearances (fifty-one (51) appearances)
