Ghana Election 2020: NDC Winning Back Ahanta West Come December 7 – The Umbrellas Claim

Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is claiming that they are winning back the Ahanta West Constituency parliamentary seat in the coming December 7 parliamentary elections.

Ahanta West is one of the constituencies of Western Region.

The Umbrella Party lost the constituency to the Elephant New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 elections.

Statistics of the 2016 general elections indicates the following.

With the presidential election results, Candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the NPP won with 30, 262 votes amounting to 67.43% whiles Candidate John Dramani Mahama of the NDC gained 13,693 votes amounting to 30.51% of the total cast votes.

With the Parliamentary election results, Candidate Ebenezer Kojo Kum of the NPP won with 30,596 votes with 68.10% whiles candidate George Kwame Aboagye of NDC 13, 784 votes gained amounting to 30.68% of the cast votes.

The NDC on Sunday 1 November, tweeted on their official twitter page that they are winning back the Ahanta West Constituency with Presidential Candidate John Dramani Mahama and Parliamentary Candidate Dr. Emmanuel Okumi Andoh in the upcoing December 7 polls.
