Vera began working for Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN) in 1969, when he reported on the disaster of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 in the Andes.

Between 1979 to 1981, he briefly quit the state channel to oversee the El Austral newspaper in Temuco.

In particular, in June 1984, when he was a war correspondent covering conflicts like the Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua, the civil war in El Salvador, the Rwandan genocide, the attempted coup in the Soviet Union, and the wars in the Middle East, he was one of the founders of the investigative program Informe upon his return to TVN.

He took involved in the 1994 publication of Alejandro Cabrera’s Sun Sellers. She made a permanent exit from television in September 1995 to work as a journalist at Channel 13’s press office.

She took part in Ruta QuetzalChannel 13 as well. After twenty years on the channel, he announced his resignation in March 2015 to join Mega, where he made his debut with the documentary On the banks of the river.

He later took part in the Historias que nos reunen initiative. She went back to Canal13 in 2021 to produce the documentary series Crónicas de la Patagonia.
