Caroline Louise Flack born on 9 November 1979, and died on 15 February 2020, was an English television and radio presenter and actress. In 2014 she won the BBC’s 12th series of Strictly Come Dancing, the X Factor, and later Love Island.
Caroline Flack grew up in Norfolk and was interested in dance and theater during her school years. She started her professional acting career by appearing on Bo’ Selecta! (2002), she presents various ITV2 shows such as I’m a Celebrity and Get Me Out of Here! now! (2009-2010), and Extra Factor (2011-2013).
Her Strictly Come Dancing victory in 2014 was celebrated with a record-perfect score in the final. The following year, she began presenting The X Factor (2015) (replacing longtime presenter, Dermot O’Leary) and Love Island (2015–2019). She left Love Island in December 2019 after being arrested on assault charges. On 15th February 2020, Caroline Flack was found dead at her home in North East London at the age of 40. In August, a coroner’s inquest recorded her verdict of suicide.
As a young host and actress, Caroline Flack struggled with long-term mental health issues, attempted suicide, and self-harming on various occasions. TV producer Anna Blue said, “She wasn’t emotionally attached to deal with all the problems that came with being famous.

On 13 December 2019, Caroline Flack was charged with assaulting her boyfriend, tennis player Lewis Burton, after Burton reported the incident at her home in Islington that morning. Police reported that Flack was found covered in blood when they arrived and she admitted to hitting Barton. Subsequent investigation revealed that Barton had suffered a head injury by punching and attacking when he was sleeping. On December 17, Caroline Flack resigned as host of Love Island “in order not to divert attention from the upcoming series.”
Caroline Flack pleaded not guilty in Highbury Corner Magistrate’s Court on December 23, 2019. Her attorney told the court that Burton did not support the charges and that “as he says he is a witness, he is not the victim.” She was released on bail and was scheduled to appear in court on March 4, 2020.
On 15 February 2020, Caroline Flack was found dead at her home in Stoke Newington, London. She was 40. Her family’s attorney said her death was a suicide by hanging. Her inquest began on February 19th and was postponed until 5 August. On August 6, after two days of hearings, the coroner ruled Flack’s death a suicide. Her private funeral was held on 10 March at Greenacres Memorial Park in Colney, near Norwich.
