Young is said to have started his acting career by accident when a woman he had a crush on told him that she wanted to study with the famo us acting coach Lee Strasberg.

Burt Young died in Los Angeles at 83 on Sunday, October 8, 2023. His daughter, Anne Morea Steingieser confirmed his death in a statement but did not mention the cause of death hence there’s no information as to whether the late actor was ill or died in an accident.
Burt Young was born on April 30, 1940, in Queens, New York. The former boxer became a household following his role as Paulie in six of the “Rocky” films starring Sylvester Stallone.
For his performance in Rocky, he bagged an Oscar nomination for supporting actor. Young also appeared in films such as Chinatown, Once Upon a Time in America, and Last Exit to Brooklyn.
Also an accomplished theater actor, Young had more than 160 film and television credits to his name. He starred in films such as Convoy, Back to School, The Pope of Greenwich Village, and Downtown: A Street Tale.
His television appearances included The Rockford Files, Baretta, Law & Order, Walker, Texas Ranger, All In The Family, MAS*H, and Miami Vice.
As a painter, his art has been displayed in galleries throughout the world. As an artist, he worked with Gabriele Tinti, for whom he designed the cover for the poetry collection All Over, as well as contributed the illustrations for the art book A Man.
Young was also a published author whose works included two filmed screenplays and a 400-page historical novel called Endings. He wrote two stage plays: SOS and A Letter to Alicia and the New York City Government from a Man With a Bullet in His Head.
Following his demise, his long-time friend and actor, Sylvester Stallone posted a tribute to Young on Instagram, writing, “To my dear friend, Burt Young, you were an incredible man and artist. I and the World will miss you very much…RIP”
